This is the story of how a simple brake inspection exposes deceitful practices. Two days prior I requested that the front brake pads be inspected for wear. I left for one hour. I returned and was watching my truck being driven in and out of the lot 3 times. I heard tires being removed and compressed air being used. The mechanic goes up to the desk and speaks with Ed who becomes my subject matter. After they are done talking, Ed calls me up and says, and I quote, “ So, what’s wrong with your brakes?”. I said, “nothing.” I then ask myself, WhyTF is he asking what’s wrong when a simple brake pad inspection was the only request. My blood started to simmer as he started explaining how inferior the brake pads were, where did I get them, etc. and how his mechanic had scraped them to eliminate a noise he heard while driving it. I told Ed, who is becoming defensive, to get the pad thickness results as I sat down again. He does not. Instead he takes care of two more customers, causing more delay. So I went to the mechanic myself and got my answers. He’s got the hood up, air filter is exposed, he’s checking codes for my check engine light, WHICH I DID NOT F…….. ASK THEM TO DO. Ladies and gentlemen, do not bring your vehicles here. I’m qualified to say Performance Specialties exhibits unscrupulous, opportunistic and deceptive business practices. Fortunately l am not in jail today.

Hello this is Ernie the owner. I am sorry your experience was not a pleasant one. When a vehicle comes in for a brake check they do drive the vehicle to see how it brakes. When braking the technician noticed it made noise. He was backing it up and going forward in the driveway to try to duplicate the noise to see which wheel or wheels it was coming out of. He also removed the tires to physically check the brakes both inside and out brake pads and rear brakes shoes. He cleaned the linings and adjusted the rear brake shoes because they were out of adjustment. Out of adjustment rear shoes can put more strain on the front brakes causing them to heat up and glaze them . This will affect how they brake and will make them noisy. Your brakes front and rear have about 50 percent material left on them. They are noisy because of the linings themselves. Besides cleaning them off which we did the only way to make them quiet is to replace them. Every vehicle that comes in gets a digital inspection so the customer knows the condition of their vehicle. We have performed these on every vehicle for years. Once the inspection is done we supply the information to the customer so they know what is good or bad with the condition of their vehicle. This inspection is for you information. What you decide to repair or not repair is always up to you.

Very nice, they were 30 minutes behind and Groupon gave some hard time. Good service though, just prepare yourself to wait there. there’s no coffee, restaurant or anything close by.
