About Us
Ernie Tate and his son are the father-and-son duo behind Performance Specialties here in Spring Valley, CA. Our shop was first opened back in 1974 by Ernie’s father, which he started after leaving the Marine Corps in the same year. When Ernie was just 5 years old, he started to go into the shop to clean or work on things with his father.
Auto repair has always been a part of Ernie’s life, and starting in the business as a kid helped shape his passion for the industry. He decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and continue the family’s business in 1987. In 2013, Ernie’s son joined him in the business and helps him run the shop today. Ernie’s father has since retired, but he still comes into the shop regularly to help out his son and grandson.
Here at Performance Specialties, our goal has always been to provide our community with honest and quality service. We want our customers to feel that they can trust us with their vehicles and know that we will always treat their vehicles as if they were our own.
